Breaking the Rules:

Within this week, I was able to find some images that represented the term " breaking the rules " to me. Everyone has different opinions on a single topic but in my context, this was what it meant to " break the rules ".

Toilet Sign
Usually, most washrooms use the silhouettes of a male and female to represent the gents and ladies. This sign has broken that by having the images of a lipstick stain and moustache represent the different genders instead of having the norm silhouettes of a male and female. Very innovative but it still does the same job.

Life-size Beanbags
I like how big they have made these beanbags, it was taller than the average person. Each one had the image of the different races and cultures residing in Singapore. In a way, this particular item has broken the rule of simply being a " pillow ". It is now being used as something to educate the younger generation on the tasteful culture present in this diverse country.

" No seagull " Sign
I find the seagull in this picture to be a " joker ". Though it is obvious that an animal, let alone a bird wouldn't understand a man-made sign. But standing on the sign itself makes the picture extremely ironic. This clearly shows it breaking the rules, but I also find this to be quite an entertaining picture to look at.

Ceiling Lamps
As glass is quite heavy, people don't think of incorporating it into ceiling lamps. The lamps in this picture has broken the rules by having glass as part of the design. I find the designer brave to actually do it and to break the rules and ideals of the making of an ordinary lamp.

Rainbow
To me, this picture represents how you can break the rules of how a rainbow is made. The most obvious way is when sun shines after a thunderstorm, a rainbow is formed in the sky, or when you paint/draw a rainbow. But to me there are other ways, like how when you wash the paint off the palette the mixture of colours creates a vibrant array of colours.

"Keep off the Grass"
The irony is heavy here and you can feel the rebellion from the person stepping on the lawn despite the large poster stuck on the Grass to keep off.

"No photography"
The irony of this photo itself is simply that, it is a photo. It seems like the photographer is making fun of the poster by taking a photograph of it when it clearly restricts the use of a camera.

A different journey home:

I took a different route to the MRT after school instead of my usual one and came across this peculiar looking fish tank. The street was quite foreign to me as I have only been there once. The design of this tank is quite unique unlike the normal ones made out of glass.

Also, along the same route I took, I passed the SAM museum and saw this statue. I thought that it's structure defied " gravity " and thought that that was really interesting how it has managed to stay in that position for so many Years.

After alighting from the MRT, I took a detour route walking home. I came across these two HDB flats but what really made the picture was how the clouds formed a straight line right between the two HDB flats. I thought that it looked like a half frame with a picture in between.

I've learnt that there is always something new or interesting when you take a different route or turn as compared to taking the daily one. We should be open to trying new things than to just stick to the same things, else, life would be a plain picture.
